Herbaceous Supports - Muntons Traditional Plant Supports
Herbaceous Supports

These supports encompass all sizes of plant from smaller front-of-border herbaceous varieties, peonies of every description up to very large Annabelle hydrangeas. Our grid supports are widely used on the Equinox beds at RHS Wisley.

One-ring supports are ideal for containing smaller herbaceous plants such as sedums and small asters. Use them to contain catmints or others that have a tendency to flop, or small clumps that need support at the base to keep their stems upright; the medium and large one-ring supports will protect thicker stems like cirsium from being blown about by wind and rain.

Two-ring supports will elegantly contain peonies or any herbaceous clump with a tendency to flop - use both tall and regular for well-established peonies as well as clumps of agapanthus, alstroemerias, campanulas and smaller asters.

Three-ring supports are for Annabelle hydrangeas, asters and other tall perennials. Wind and rain can quickly spoil their late summer glory and these large herbaceous plant supports give enough support for even the tallest stems and hold the flower heads upright. If you want them larger, wider, taller, we can make them to any size.

Grid supports - larger clumps of agapanthus, aster and campanulas will flourish in these supports. The ring incorporates a sturdy grid on the middle ring to support perennials up to two metres tall, and helps prevent their stems from collapsing after being battered by wind and rain.

As well as our Traditional 12mm diameter supports we also offer a range of Slimline 8mm diameter supports.

Three-ring Herbaceous Supports

Wind and rain can quickly spoil the late summer glory of asters, and other tall perennials, some of which grow nearly 2m high. Our largest herbaceous plant supports (85cm wide and 120cm high) give enough support for even the tallest stems and hold the flowerheads upright. If you want them larger, wider, taller, just ask!
